Concept
(9:29:32 PM) 31339: i think we're overdue in psychology for a big unification
(9:29:50 PM) 31339: i can see so many overlaps between the different fields
(9:29:49 PM) Bitchercise: Yeah, and the Cognitive Scientists are all up in that.
(9:30:34 PM) Bitchercise: The discipline is inherently interdisciplinary.
(9:30:59 PM) Bitchercise: They try to marry Philosophy of Mind with Psychology and Neurology.
(9:30:39 PM) 31339: sweet
(9:30:54 PM) 31339: hey i had a neat idea for a project: a cross-disciplinary thesaurus
(9:31:13 PM) 31339: you look up a concept from one discipline, and it tells you what they call it in other ones
(9:31:25 PM) 31339: there's so much overlap
(9:31:39 PM) Bitchercise: Oh! Wow!
(9:31:45 PM) Bitchercise: Hey, that's a neat idea, Chris!
(9:31:56 PM) Bitchercise: Like a network of concepts.
(9:32:00 PM) 31339: exactly!
(9:32:07 PM) 31339: i thought it up when i was talking to an old algorithms prof
(9:32:23 PM) Bitchercise: Hahaha!
(9:32:25 PM) 31339: and he was saying how he used this thing from engineering, but it was called something else in biology, and another thing in algorithms
(9:32:42 PM) Bitchercise: That's really cool!
(9:32:53 PM) Bitchercise: They all arrived at the same thing from first principles.
(9:32:58 PM) Bitchercise: Happens all the time.
(9:33:04 PM) 31339: exactly :)
(9:32:58 PM) 31339: it would require some damn smart old mofos to write it
(9:33:06 PM) Bitchercise: Or corwdsourcing...
(9:33:14 PM) 31339: it's good because it could be a catalyst for unifications... consilience
