IE Replacement

I.E.

It's well known that IE stands for Micro$ux Intercrap Expl0der. This is because it sucks and it explodes... and is inter...preted... as shitty.

But this is cool, because its forces of crappiness can be used for evil (as evidenced by the huge number of worms, popups, and other bullshit going around), OR for good! (eg. installing a more compatible browser which won't leave your computer vulnerable and which gives you a better browsing experience!)

It's known that Microsoft has cancelled the development of IE because the DHTML and CSS3 standards, if fully implemented, would be an awesome web-application development platform. Microsoft wants the future web applications to run on Avalon, use XAML, and most of all, use their platform and development tools.

Microsoft will have an incredible stranglehold on the market, and a lack of open standards will be a huge impediment to efficient evolution of this hugely compelx systems.

The best solution is to cut off Microsoft before they get far. If a browser that can support awesome standards like CSS3, DHTML, and the new whatwg HTML4 form/DOM extensions, it would be an awesome platform for rich-client development (similar to General Interface). XUL is also already nice environment (see: Venkman).

But, everybody currently uses IE! Nobody wants to switch!

Okay, this was true like 2 years ago... before the insane rash of worms, viruses, ActiveX buffer-overflows, etc., but people seem to be coming around. People are just sick of all the crap that IE brings into their systems.

Anyhow, the simplest solution is to exploit one of the many bugs in IE to do an "IE Upgrade" which would replace IE with a version of Mozilla that was skinned to look exactly like a "next-generation" version of IE? :) It just needs to look Microsofty when it's installing, and people will buy it.

To my knowledge, chromes let you completely redesign everything in the browser's interface. So, it could be made to look like IE but better! IE could be usurped!
